Painter · Wood Burning Artist · Trilingual Creator
I create art that lives between stillness and feeling — expressive paintings in acrylic and watercolour, and wood-burned circular pieces adorned with customization. My work draws from philosophy, faith, and the quiet courage it takes to feel deeply in a fast world.
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see."

"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." — Proverbs 31:25
I am Samantha — a Manchester-based artist and trilingual creator working in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, with art experience and training in Hong Kong, Korea, and the UK. My art intersects philosophy, theory, cultures, economics, and quality management. My practice moves between expressive acrylic paintings and intimate wood-burned circular pieces, each adorned with heart and soul and, most importantly, inscribed with philosophy, scripture, and words of healing from Asian and Western culture.
My work is rooted in the belief that art is not decoration — it is what we need. I hold Programme Certificates in Hong Kong for Expressive Art Intervention, Art Therapy, and Mental Health First Aid, and I create pieces that hold space for emotion, memory, and the quiet strength it takes to keep going.
"Be still and know." — Psalm 46:10

Each painting begins with an emotion I cannot name yet. These works hold what language cannot — the tenderness of two worlds dissolving into each other, the quiet constancy of love that sees clearly and chooses still. Every piece is an original, one-of-a-kind work. Prints and commissions available on request.
It could be sea and water coming together — a melting that happens when two people of different worlds, different natures, finally touch. That meeting is at once a healing and a risk. A disaster, perhaps. And yet, we tried.
Even when every voice around us already knew the answer, even when the outcome was written before we began — we tried. Quality management has no language for love. Love cannot be qualified. It cannot be quantified. And that is precisely why it matters.
When you first see a mountain, it is a mountain. Then doubt arrives, and for a while it is no longer a mountain. And then — slowly, quietly — it becomes a mountain again.
You are the apple in my eyes. You were always the apple in my eyes. The apple has changed, and I have changed, and still I look at you and know: this is what it is. This is what love is. To see clearly, to accept fully, and to choose the same answer again.
Watercolour does not allow for hesitation. It moves before you decide, bleeds before you are ready, settles into places you did not plan.
In that surrender is a kind of honesty — the pigment finds its own truth on the page. This piece was made in that spirit: released, not controlled. Felt, not managed.
At first glance, the heart appears to be burning. Perhaps it is only colour, movement, and the human instinct to read pain where there may simply be intensity.
This work asks gently whether art must prove its professionalism, or whether its truer purpose is to connect people, heal quietly, and offer courage. In love, as in economics, value is not always a market price; it may be compatibility, timing, and the tender mystery of being seen. As the Chinese sayings remind us, "beauty appears in the lover's eyes" and "each flower enters different eyes." Yet it is a sorrowful habit to place our whole worth inside another person's gaze. Maslow begins with safety and basic needs before self-actualisation; when that order is turned upside down, devotion can become an investment expecting return. The piece returns to a simpler theology: God loves unconditionally, while people often love through limitation. Still, the heart may shine without being consumed.
Blue moves like a prayer before language arrives: soft at the edge, deeper where feeling gathers, unfinished in the most honest way.
This painting reflects the humility of human relationships. We may contribute, wait, and hope for a return, yet love does not always follow the logic of exchange. Human nature longs to be chosen, but it also longs for freedom; sometimes affection grows through space rather than pursuit. To love oneself first is not selfishness. It is a return to the foundation from which generosity becomes clear. There is no final formula, only discernment, grace, and the quiet acceptance that life sometimes happens beyond our control.
